Privacy Policy

LunaScape3D (“we”, “us”) makes a browser-based tool for turning real lunar and planetary elevation data into 3D-printable models. This policy explains what information we collect when you use this website (lunascape3d.com) and the app (app.lunascape3d.com), why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

The short version: your models are generated in your browser and are never uploaded to us. We collect as little as we can. We store your email address if you create an account, and we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site.

What we collect

Things you don’t have to give us

You can use LunaScape3D without an account. In that case, we don’t know who you are. Your terrain selections, model settings and exported STL/3MF files stay on your device. Presets you save while signed out live in your browser’s local storage, and you can clear them at any time.

Account information

To sign in, you give us your email address. We send you a one-time sign-in link, so we never ask for or store a password. With your account we store:

  • your email address and the date your account was created;
  • the presets you choose to save to your account (the region you picked and your model settings), so they’re available on any device;
  • a session record that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.

Subscription and payment information

Paid plans are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects and processes your payment details, billing address and tax information. We never see or store your card number. Lemon Squeezy tells us your customer ID, subscription status, renewal date, plan name, subscription start date, and your card’s brand and last four digits. We use these to unlock paid features for your account and to show your subscription details in the app.

Usage and analytics data

We use Google Analytics on both the website and the app to understand how many people visit, which pages and features they use, and roughly where they come from. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, your approximate location (country and city, derived from your IP address), your device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. We may also record in-app events, such as generating or exporting a model, without any of the model data itself. We don’t use this information to identify you personally, and we don’t use Google Analytics advertising features.

Server logs

Like most websites, our servers automatically log basic technical information when your browser requests pages, map tiles or API data. This includes your IP address, the time of the request, the URL requested and your browser’s user-agent string. We use these logs to keep the service running, fix problems and prevent abuse.

Cookies and local storage

We use:

  • A session cookie (essential): set when you sign in, so you stay signed in. It expires after 30 days or when you sign out.
  • Google Analytics cookies (analytics): such as _ga and _ga_*, used to distinguish visitors and sessions.
  • Local storage (essential): stores your preferences, such as the last planet you viewed, and any presets you save while signed out. This data stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • provide the service, including signing you in, saving your presets and unlocking features you’ve paid for;
  • send you sign-in links and essential account or billing emails;
  • understand how the site is used so we can improve it;
  • keep the service secure and prevent abuse;
  • meet our legal obligations.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t send marketing email unless you’ve asked to receive it.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers who help us run LunaScape3D:

  • Lemon Squeezy: payments, subscriptions and tax (privacy policy);
  • Mailgun: sending sign-in and account emails (privacy policy);
  • Google Analytics: usage analytics (how Google uses data);
  • our hosting and content-delivery providers, which store and serve the site, the app and map tiles.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of LunaScape3D, our users or others.

Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Account data and saved presets: until you delete your account.
  • Sign-in links: they expire after 15 minutes.
  • Sessions: they expire after 30 days.
  • Subscription records: for as long as your account exists, and longer where tax or accounting law requires it (Lemon Squeezy keeps its own records under its own policy).
  • Analytics data: kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited period, then deleted.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • use LunaScape3D without an account;
  • delete presets from your account at any time;
  • ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct it or to delete your account and its data;
  • cancel your subscription at any time from the billing portal in the app.

Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, the UK or California), you may have additional rights. These can include the right to object to or restrict certain processing, the right to data portability, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (accounts, presets, subscriptions), our legitimate interests (security, logs and improving the service), your consent where the law requires it (analytics cookies) and legal obligations (tax records).

Children

LunaScape3D is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information. These include encrypted (HTTPS) connections and passwordless sign-in. No online service can be completely secure, but we take care to keep what we store to a minimum.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we’ll make it more prominent on the site or email account holders.
